When I retired in February 2021, I began writing profiles of people (and a dog) that have been important to me. The process of writing was an opportunity to document what I could remember about these people—and to dredge up memories that otherwise would have been lost to time. Thinking about them led me to think about their lasting affect on my life and to reflect on who I was at the time I knew them, so these profiles reveal as much about me as about the subject, and, in that way, they are an oblique approach to autobiography.
Several profiles are in progress. The first one I finished was about the dog.
