Richard Griscom retired in February 2021 from the position of associate university librarian for departmental libraries at the University of Pennsylvania Libraries. He came to Penn in 2004 as head of the Otto E. Albrecht Music Library and the Eugene Ormandy Music and Media Center.

Griscom was trained as a musician (M.M., Indiana University) and has played recorder in the Penn Baroque and Recorder Ensemble since 2004. He is coauthor of The Recorder: A Research and Information Guide, which won the Music Library Association’s 2014 Duckles Award for the best book-length bibliography or other research tool in music. In 2023, he was presented with the MLA Citation, the association’s tribute for lifetime achievement. Richard Griscom
