Personal histories
When I retired in February 2021, I began writing profiles of people—and a pet—that have been important to me. The process of writing was an opportunity to document what I could remember about these people and to dredge up memories that otherwise would have been lost to time. In the process, I’ve thought about their lasting affect on my life and reflected on who I was at the time I knew (or encountered) them, so these accounts reveal as much about me as about the subject, and, in that way, they are personal histories more than profiles. Several are in progress. The first one I finished was about a dog.
